About The Event

Inspired by kintsugi—the art of mending fractures with gold—this cross-disciplinary performance traces cycles of rupture, repetition, and repair, asking what it means to carry history forward while continually reshaping the self. Music and movement unfold in a live, responsive dialogue, where composition and improvisation blur and each performer meets the others in real time, building a shared language of fracture and renewal.

Takumi Kakimoto is a Los Angeles–based composer/pianist from Himeji, Japan, whose work bridges jazz and orchestral traditions, with performances, commissions, and collaborations spanning ensembles, dance, and interdisciplinary contexts in the U.S. and Japan.
