About The Event

Put down the eggnog, don ye now your gayest apparel, and get ready to watch Coin & Ghost unwrap your presents for you…slowly. It’s gonna be a holly jolly time.

Brought to you by the shameless creators of "HUNNYSWEET, an Adult Adventure Through the Hundred Acre Wood"

Founded in 2017, Coin & Ghost is LA's theatrical home for remixed mythology. We define “mythology” broadly, as any set of stories that simultaneously SHAPED and WAS SHAPED BY a culture, a lens that allows us to explore not only traditionally understood myths – Greek, Roman, Creation Myths, etc. – but contemporary source material as well. Comic books have a mythology to them, as do the collected works of James Baldwin; the Kennedy dynasty could be viewed as American mythology, as could the Kardashians. We take these stories that exist somewhere within our collective understanding, then collaborate with playwrights and ensemble-devising techniques to forge our own, new understanding. We remix. That is to say, we sample, recontextualize, adapt, and transform, filtering the source material through Coin & Ghost’s voice and aesthetic. If the MYTHOLOGY belongs to the collective, to the community – then the REMIX is unique to the artists in the room. Coin & Ghost has been invited to create/perform at some of LA's most notable theatrical institutions – including Pasadena Playhouse, the Kirk Douglas Theatre, and A Noise Within – and our work has been praised as “visually captivating” and “ambitious” (Stage Raw), “thrillingly theatrical” (Stage Scene LA), and “uniquely entertaining” (LA Weekly).
