ANTWONE FISHER: Film Screening + Discussion with Antwone Fisher
In recognition of National Foster Youth Month, Our Authors Study Club presents a Special Screening of the feature ANTWONE FISHER (directed by and co-starring Denzel Washington), followed by a conversation with the film's writer (and subject) Antwone Fisher, based on his memoir, FINDING FISH.

About The Event
An afternoon of film, conversation, and community centered around the remarkable true story of Antwone Fisher. Directed by Denzel Washington and starring Derek Luke, Antwone Fisher follows a young Navy sailor struggling with anger, trauma, and the lasting scars of a brutal childhood in foster care. After being referred to a naval psychiatrist, Antwone begins the difficult process of confronting his past and reclaiming his sense of self.
Following the screening, audiences are invited to a special discussion with Antwone Fisher reflecting on the true experiences behind the film, resilience, healing, and the ongoing realities facing foster youth today.
