About The Event

Together Kearian and Abriel have created a duet entitled Peony Picnic. Both versed in multi-hyphenated performance modalities,  they work on merging the likeness of performance art and dance to create an expressive performance of ritual, healing and physical embodiment of their expansive spirits .

Moving through the intersection of movement, sound, and set design they  explore themes of support, isolation, excess, and resilience.

Abriel Gardner is an LA based Performer and Artist. She works in many mediums including, movement, writing, drawing, sound and sculpture. She graduated from CalArts with a BFA in Dance as well studied at the National University of the Arts in Seoul South Korea. After Graduating she worked with Andrea K. Schlehwein at Art Space Gallery and Dance Collective in Austria which propelled her interest in creating dance in gallery and museum settings. Upon returning to the states she performed in the “Life’s' ' exhibition at the Hammer Museum as well as Simone Fortis Solo show at Moca in Forti’s iconic Dance Constructions. Abriel has also participated in works by Dimitri Chamblas, Solange Knowles, Maya Alexis and others. In Abriel’s personal work she enjoys the experiential and unconventional. Her goal is to create work that acknowledges the harsh realities that possess this world while also creating the space for love and light to prevail.

Kearian Giertz is a LA based performance artist, choreographer, singer, and dancer. After completing their undergrad in dance and choreography at CalArts, they  collaborated  vocally and choreographically with Rosanna Gamson World Wide, Acts of Matter, and Helios Dance Theater.  Their choreographic work and art direction  has been featured in music videos by PVRIS, Ryuji Imaichi, and Lisa Remar. They have also been featured in music videos starting Bad Bunny and Post Malone.  In their own work they aim to reveal the complexities of inhabiting a body that exist between binaries.
