About The Event

Two sisters, Fay and Alice, attempt to reconnect after their father’s disappearance. While Fay is on the brink of madness from past tragedies, Alice tries to help bring her back from the precipice.

“An extreme yet intimate portrait of psychological scars and self-effacement … presented in a mode of modern gothic … Jack James’ psychodrama is a manically disorienting, dissociative dance around domestic dysfunction, deep trauma, and daddy absent (but ever-present).” –AntBit

With a background in fine art, director Jack James adapted the fevered atmosphere of his stop-motion animations into live-action for his debut feature Malady. His second feature, Wild Bones, has earned him top awards at the Atlanta Underground Film Festival, Arizona Underground Film Festival, Cuzco Underground Cinema Festival, and Hallucinea Film Festival.
