About The Event

A bold, pulse-quickening split-bill featuring electrifying new works by choreographers Steph Dai and Sophia Oddi. Each piece unravels the tension of dissonance through a striking fusion of raw physicality, sharp theatricality, and humor. With their own daring edge, they push, pull, and twist through the question: What happens when you are stuck—body, mind, or both?

Stephanie Dai is an LA-based dancer and choreographer and an inaugural graduate of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. She has performed in the original works of Bret Easterling, the TL Collective, and the JA Collective in addition to working with artists such as Solange, 88Rising, COACH, and half-alive. With her own choreographic work, she hopes to highlight the potential for awe, storytelling, and aesthetic appreciation in the everyday.

Sophia Oddi is a choreographer based in Los Angeles whose works employs dance theater and surrealist sequences to touch on connection and desire. She graduated with the inaugural class of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance under the direction of Jodie Gates and William Forsythe. In addition to her choreographer work, she has performed with TU Dance, Yusha Marie-Sorzano, Zeitgeist Dance Theatre, and ISHIDA Dance Company. A special thank you to the Dance Resource Center and the HOMEGROWN Residency for their support.
